The African arm of French broadcaster Canal + has renewed its agreement with the English Premier League to show live matches in sub-Saharan Africa for the next three seasons.
canalafriqueThe media rights deal will see over 150 English club football matches made available on Canal+ Afrique platforms, beginning in the 2016-17 season. It follows other recent acquisitions by the pay-TV service to air the Copa América Centenario and the Uefa Euro 2016 international football tournaments.
Broadcasting rights for the Premier League in the Middle East and North Africa are held by Qatar’s pay-TV service BeIN Sports.
Canal+ lost the rights to show action from England’s top-flight football league in France from 2016-2019 to rival broadcaster Altice.
