Despite being the undisputed audience leader in Spain, Mediaset’s reputation is the worst among the largest audiovisual groups in the country.
atresmedia mediasetAccording to a report from The Reputation Institute, Mediaset’s programming is perceived as low quality and poor, diminishing the group’s general reputation among viewers. Atresmedia has received the highest scores, in spite of not having beaten Mediaset in audience rankings for nearly two years.
Atresmedia, which owns free-to-air (FTA) channels including Antena 3 and laSexta, has the highest reputation in the seven aspects analysed: finances, integrity, leadership, innovation, working environment, content offering and services. The group gets the highest scores regarding financial stability and content quality.
The research, which surveyed over 8,000 viewers and analysed 290 companies, places Spain’s public broadcaster as the second most valued audiovisual group. RTVE is highly regarded for its social commitment and its working team, but overall scores are lowered by its financial instability and its low capacity for innovation.
Mediaset is perceived by the audience as a very strong company, financially speaking, and a clear leader in Spain’s media scenario, but its content offering gets the lowest scores among the other analysed broadcasting groups.
The three companies share the highest audience figures in Spain, but Mediaset, and in particular Telecinco, has been the undisputed leader for the last two years, both on linear TV and online.
